Stoep Tasting 2021

The Karoo Wine Clubs annual Stoep Tasting Wine Weekend in Graaff Reinet has attracted thousands of tourists and wine lovers to the Camdeboo region every year and 2021 is no different.

Despite 2020 being a year to forget and the original May weekend having to be postponed due to national lock down regulations, the Karoo Wine Club managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat and organize the September weekend 2020 in record time.

Much to the relief of the local tourist sector, economy and wine makers and lovers from across the country.

For ST21, organizers have been driven by the motivation to assist local Camdeboo business and SA wine producers get back on their feet.

#saveSAwine and #visitthekaroo are this year’s themes.

With close to 70 of SA’s top producers showcasing their wines from some of the most beautiful stoeps of Graaff Reinet and Nieu Bethesda, tasters can wander in the fresh Karoo air and taste and order their favourite tipples.

The village of Nieu Bethesda has been included on the route for ST21 and there will be at  least 20 wineries stationed there over the 3 day weekend, so be sure to plan at least 1 day in the village (why not base yourselves there and use the wine shuttles to commute between towns?)

The stoeps have been spaced further apart than normal, ticket numbers have been limited and a number of other measures have been put in place in order to stay within compliance of the lock down  regulations.

Tasting hours are 14h00 – 18h00 (Thursday, Friday & Sat)

With the impact of lock down, restaurants are limited in the numbers they may seat, so please be understanding. If you cannot find a table anywhere, Stoep Tasters are encouraged to stock up on lovely local delicacies and wines during the day and return to their places of accommodation in the evenings, to relax and enjoy a quiet Karoo braai under the Karoo stars or a dinner.

Clear blue skies and Karoo sunshine should round off a great weekend for all and ensure all our lovely visitors have a great weekend.

Tickets can be collected from the Graaff Reinet Tourism office.
